During the consultation, a detailed health history of your problems will be obtained and discussed and you will have the opportunity to ask questions about chiropractic, what will be done on your first visit, and any questions you have with Dr. Marion to have your needs addressed. Next, a thorough examination will be performed consisting of orthopedic and neurologic evaluation testing your muscles, nerves, and bones. Specialized functional testing such as postural analysis, gait analysis, joint & muscle testing, as well as X-ray studies, may also be utilized to formulate an accurate diagnosis and individualized treatment plan. Dr. Marion will communicate all of your findings from exam and possible x-rays to determine your prognosis. Additionally, you will have 4 important questions answered: what’s wrong, how can we fix it, how long will it take, and how much will it cost. If your condition would be more appropriately managed by another health care provider, Dr. Marion will seek out and provide you with the most appropriate referral to better suit your health care needs.
Treatment on the first visit will depend upon the specifics of your condition. Most often treatment will include, but is not limited to, spinal and extremity manipulation/adjustment, Active Release Techniques, physiotherapy procedures and exercises that will be recommended and prescribed. Dr. Marion will also make self-care home recommendations including exercises, nutritional supplements, and the application of ice or heat as part of your visit.
The length of a treatment session can vary greatly, depending upon the specifics of the condition including severity, stage of injury, and phase of care. A maintenance or wellness visit consisting of spinal manipulation only, may last about 10 minutes. Other visits may last longer up to an hour depending on what new problems may have to be investigated and treated accordingly.[/text_output]
