Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS)

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is the most prevalent overuse and repetitive injury that occurs in the workplace today.  It is estimated that CTS costs about $30,000 due to disability, traditional medical care, and absenteeism according to the NINDS (National Institute of Neurological Disorders & Stroke).

  • CTS occurs at 3 sites primarily, with the #1 site located at the top of the inner forearm (#2 wrist and #3 forearm).
  • Symptoms can include sharp, achy pain, and numbness/tingling affecting the thumb, index, and middle fingers (lack of grip strength, loss of sensation, changes in temperature detection).
  • CTS occurs due to overuse and repetitive activities involving the wrist, hand, and forearm (i.e. computer work several hours per day for weeks, months, years) causing compression or squeezing of the median nerve against the muscle (s) involved.

-Chiropractic care is successful at treating cases of CTS because at LPC, we address the cause and not the pain.  Often, the symptoms are felt further away from where the problem/injury began.  By making lifestyle modifications and seeking out conservative chiropractic care, CTS symptoms resolve quickly and effectively, avoiding surgery, drugs, and expensive health care bills!
